Today I am sharing a glimpse of a day of my life. I generally aim to workout 5 days a week. I do try to move daily because it makes me feel good. Can you guess my favourite part in any workout routine? It's the cooldown! (lol) Probably not for the reasons you are thinking but instead for the feelings I experience once I am done. I must state that I do not rush my workouts, I really try to make that mind-body connection. Plus it's important to ensure that your form is correct for every exercise or you may be doing more harm than good to your body.
Exercising releases endorphins which are also known as "happy hormones". I like to treat the cooldown as a time to meditate and get centered. I find peace focusing on my breathing and listening to my surroundings. The best time for this for me is the early mornings. Everyone is sleeping and the birds are chirping. After a workout, I feel very accomplished and ready for anything.
If you want to have a good productive day, I would definitely recommend exercising first thing in the morning. Any type of exercise is beneficial no matter what you do, especially if it's in comparison to doing nothing. How do you feel when you go through periods of inactivity? Do you feel sluggish and fatigued? My bet is that you do.
Exercising is essential to improving your physical health. Also, it will help your performance in daily activities from doing laundry to running.

Improves cardiorespiratory function (a happy heart keeps the doctor away).

Improves daily activity (anything involving pushing, pulling or holding)
Promotes healthy eating.
Improves energy levels and self-esteem
Find something that you enjoy, whether that means power walking, yoga, lifting weights or boxing and just do it! Make it apart of your daily routine, even if all you do is static stretches first thing in the morning for 20 minutes. Daily movement is imperative for optimal health especially if you want to live your best life after retirement. I don't know about you but I am trying to make the most out of this life.
